Written from an outpost in rural Thailand, the Book of Zen offers its koans in both English and Thai. Here are a few of our favorites:

Koan 50 (Book of Zen)

Living honestly sometimes means dealing from the bottom of the deck.

Koan 48 (Book of Zen)

“I am a Buddhist,” the man said.

“Pointing to a rock and calling it a turtle does not make it so,” the monk replied.

Koan 27 (Book of Zen)

Love is a blind man walking without a cane.

Koan 22 (Book of Zen)

Belief makes all things possible. Including ignorance.

- ความเชื่อทำให้ทุกอย่างเป็นไปได้รวมถึงความไม่รู้

Koan 6 (Book of Zen)

In the beginning was the Word. Then came grammar. Then came critics.
