The Lord’s Prayer: King James Version

Lords Prayer King James VersionThe following is the Lord’s Prayer from The King James Version (KJV) of the Holy Bible, the prayer which Jesus taught his disciples when they asked him how to pray, the prayer which is the Rosetta Stone for understanding the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The prayer appears twice in the KJV Holy Bible: in the Gospel of Matthew 6:9-13, and in the Gospel of Luke 11:1-4. The prayer which Jesus teaches his disciples and appears in the Book of Luke is slightly different than Matthew’s version, which appears below. One difference is that the last line of the prayer is not included.

The Our Father Prayer – KJV Version

Our Father which art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done

In earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day

Our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts,

As we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.

Amen.
